General Conference
I just wanted to take a minute and jot down some of the impressions I had after watching conference this week. I was looking forward to the solemn assembly of conference on Saturday so that I could wrap my brain around the fact that we had a new prophet. We made sure that we were all gathered together so that we could take the opportunity to sustain President Monsen as a new prophet. We were all in our jammies and sitting on our bed, not very solemnly at all when it began. First Shawn stood with the Melchezidek Priesthood holders and raised his hand as all of the kids watched. Then I had an opportunity to stand and raise my hand, as I did I was suprised, given the state we were in at home, that I felt the spirit really strongly. Then as our entire family stood to sustain the Prophet, it brought tears to my eyes. It was a special experience for us as a family to stand together and commit to following President Monsen. I also loved his humility today as he spoke, especially when he asked us to pray for him. The moving forward of the Kingdom is truly a miracle. Without skipping a beat the Lord's work continues.

Dad and I together sustained our new prophet. It brought tears to our eyes as well as i relized what a unique, wonderful, organized church we are part of and that we truly have a prophet of God on the earth today. I remembered quite a few years ago when we had the opportunity to sustain President Hinckley as our new prophet. Our little family in our basement just like your little family in your bedroom. The spirit is always where you are doing what you should and aren't we glad. Love ya
I missed the solomn assembly and was so mad about it. However, when Pres. Monson spoke at the end of conference, and did ask for us to pray for him- it was then that I knew he was our prophet. Good experience for your kids, I'm proud of you for making them part of it.
