" We can't predict all the struggles and storms in life, not even the ones just around the next corner, but as persons of faith and hope, we know beyond the shadow of any doubt that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and the best is yet to come."

The Time of Our Life for only $7.50!

You non Lake Tahoe goers will not understand the title of this post because unfortunately it is an inside joke. I will however share with you the rest of the details of our fabulous trip.. and make you wish you were there with us!

We left for Lake Tahoe on the Sunday after the Fourth of July. This time around we made it through the airport with ample time, and not a soul got left behind. (The year before, despite coming to the airport with the group, our friends the Hansens managed to miss the plane. Their luggage however did not so we packed it around all weekend wishing that they were with us instead of their golf clubs and make up bag.)
The flight was great, at the car rental garage we got a free upgrade to the suburban instead of the mini van, and we were off to a great start.

Sunday was a wonderful day, mostly card playing, napping, and to top it off a scrumptious Kristin dinner, (not that we ate Kristin for dinner just that she made us dinner and it was delicious.)

On Monday then men got up bright and early to golf, Kristin and I went for a nice run, then the girls went to the pool for some lounging and unexpected water aerobics led by the aerobics master Cindy. It was a fun morning. When the boys got home we took a hike up to I think it is called Emerald Falls, it was a nice little walk and the falls were really gorgeous.

This is the lot of us from left to right: The Akagis, Troy and Cindy, The Muirs, Dave and Kristin, The Catmulls, and the Plummers, Burke and Lori. You will notice that we are the youngest in the group. Despite their age, they kept up pretty well.

After the falls, we trekked into the back country (with the serious hikers), to hike to a Lake I do not know the name of. It was a breath taking hike (meaning it was beautiful not a killer, however we were breathing a little heavy). The only downer to the view was that the wildfires in California were raging so we had quite a bit of smoke, not enough to keep us indoors, but just enough to interfere with the lovliness of Lake Tahoe.

When we finally made it to the Lake the crazy Akagi's stripped down to the buff and jumped right in. Okay maybe not to the buff.. but they did jump in that freezing cold Lake and didn't even squeal.

Later that night we went to dinner where Kristin insisted that she order a turkey sandwich that was not even served at the restuarant we were eating at (talk about high maintainance) and almost got our waitress fired. The rest of us however ordered from the menu and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

The next couple of days consisted of more golfing, floating the river, more eating, and more game playing.

This is the view from the deck of the cabin, right on the Lake, and so pretty.

Here is a couple of golf shots, this latter is a classic one of whom Lori dubbed the "hot chick" of the group, because she ditched the girls to go golfing with the boys on the last morning. I am sure there is something smart coming out of her mouth.

Our bon voyage dinner was at some Mexican place, best fajitas I have ever eaten. Then we headed back to Reno for our flight home. Thanks to the Muirs for a fabulous time!

Stacey,

Glad you guys had a great time...we too had the the time of our lives. By the way, nice picture of my BIG FAT butt in the middle of the golf course. Maybe plaid isn't my best choice.

Fun stuff. We need to plan a trip to Lake Tahoe with our family. It looks like a great place. Why do you smile good for all of these pictures, every picture I have of you, you are pulling some kind of goofy face.

How do you like your layout? I never talked to you about it?
