" We can't predict all the struggles and storms in life, not even the ones just around the next corner, but as persons of faith and hope, we know beyond the shadow of any doubt that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and the best is yet to come."

A "Sweet Celebration"

On spot with tradition, we had our annual valentines dinner on Thursday night. I love this dinner, I loved it being served to me when I was a kid, and I think I love preparing it for the ones I love even more. I love shopping for their little gifts, I love planning the menu, I love sprinkling conversation hearts on the table, I love seeing the kids faces light up when the see the table, and I love that Shawn takes the kids out and I have almost three hours alone in my house. I also love the stress this takes out of Valentines Day. We always have plans, and neither Shawn or I feel a need to over do it. It is one of our favorite traditions.

Every year we have the same menu, the one my mom wrote for us when we were kids. Red jello, heart biscuits, salad, twice baked potatoes and for the main event, heart shaped meatloaf. It is definetely nothing fancy, but the kids love it, and it is the only time of the year I think to make meatloaf.
I love my family so much. I am so thankful for the great times we share together, learning and laughing. I love the different personalities of my kids and the excitement they bring to our family. I love Shawn and the great sense of humor he has in dealing with all of the chaos that goes on.

I love that the kids are at such fun ages and that we have such a mix of things going on right now. We have Jackson and Emma who are growing up so fast and so fun to talk to. Britta who always makes us laugh, and little Kendyll who is such a ham herself, who always loves each of us no matter what we do or say.

It was a sweet celebration this year. After we finished dinner we all gathered in the living room for several "shows" put on by the kids. We finished the evening by putting the kids to bed early, and, um I think I'll stop there.....

Fun, fun, I never thought Valentines dinner would be such a big tradition that would run through the kids, but it's so much fun. Thanks for not sharing the details about he hanky panky that went on after the kids went night night.

Wow, what a great idea. I unfortunatly am a little selfish having my husband cook for me on my birthday, I don't want to lift a finger. I think I'll try it for breakfast next year. Hey p.s. can you have lunch next week, monday or wednesday? I have sick kids and myself a little under the weather. Let me know.

I am so glad to hear that you are carrying on the tradition. I remember how much you all loved Valentines Day and how much I loved getting it ready for you. It was certainly a LOVE day for me too! I am glad that you didn't forget your hubby. They all need so much LOVE

This is such a good idea for a tradition that involves the entire family. I am such the Valentine's Day party pooper. Maybe I could start something fun like this with my family.

Oh, and by the way, in answer to your comment on my blog, I have not been to London but will be going with Shawn the next time he goes.
