" We can't predict all the struggles and storms in life, not even the ones just around the next corner, but as persons of faith and hope, we know beyond the shadow of any doubt that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and the best is yet to come."

On the First Day of Christmas

The Last Straw....

This is another tradition my mom did with us as kids and we loved it. It tells a story of a mother and her kids who just can't seem to get into the Christmas spirit because they are always bickering..sound familiar? The Mom, Ellen, comes up with this great idea to get a cradle and some straw together and have everyone in the family secretly draw names, then do secret acts of kindness for the person whose name you drew. This changes their Christmas but not without a turn in the story. I can never make it through the story without crying, I am not sure if it the story itself or if it is the memory of my mom reading the story and always crying through the end. I love this tradition and my kids do too.
